Sensory play or messy play is a great learning activity for the children. Introducing new textures in play supports the development of the different senses as well as understanding of the world around us. It also develops fine motor skills, hand dexterity and small muscle development.
In this activity, we hid different duplo blocks in jelly. We introduced different colours and the shape rectangle.
To extend the activity, add concepts you want to introduce such as shapes, numbers, phonics, etc.
Don't worry if your child seems unsure about the different textures. Play with them and show that you enjoy it too. Try again when it doesn't work the first time and eventually they will get used to the mess and the textures. 😉
Paalam!
